Local artists, designers, and stylists on House.mt you can work with

Everyone who grew up in Malta has at some point fancied owning a large farmhouse with a pool and a garden, surrounded by pastoral fields and cobbled roads.

Unfortunately, our big plans for what our homes could look like are often slashed by the reality of the costs involved to furnish a place.

And when purchasing furniture and fabrics is already a hefty expense, hiring a designer or stylist starts to look like a lap of luxury.

But while it’s true there are many things involved in renovating a home that you can do with your own two hands, including building furniture, we at House.mt argue that hiring a designer or a stylist first can actually be the key to saving costs and still making your house look like it walked out of your childhood dreams.

Not sure you see how hiring a designer or a stylist will make your renovation cheaper? Take a look at our article, where we explain how a designer or a stylist can help you lower costs.

For this articles, we list 6 designers and artists who are registed with the House Malta search engine. Using our engine is simple: We’ll ask you some basic information about the space you want to transform, and then forward your request to all the designers registered with us.

How can you work with a designer in Malta?

Consultation

If client budget is low, you can choose to just pay for a consultation, which usually involves a house visit. In this case, the designer or a stylist will help you with where to look, what to go for, and which ideas will work. Should you choose, you can ask for a designer or a stylist to give you a step-by-step plan of how to continue changing your home over time.

Design plan & execution

If you choose to keep working with the designer after your consultation, the designer will draw up a sketch of how your house will look like and go about making that a reality for you with your budget in mind. Unlike a stylist, a designer may include some structural changes if you allow it.

If it’s a stylist, their focus will be helping you find your own style and how to bring it out through furnishing and fabrics, artefacts and textiles, metals and other materials.

Project management with small to medium projects.

That means hiring contractors, other professionals to carry out work, supervising work carried out by others, setting the deadlines and handling all major aspects of more radical renovations.

Furniture upcycling and DIY work

Should you want to maximise what you already have, some designers will use their talents to redesign furniture you already own and give it a new lease on life. A designer may also make alterations by building their own additions and ‘custom-made’ pieces.
